-3/11/2026\, 14H
DESCRIPTION:Séminaire LPT \nNaïmo Davier (LOMA\, Bordeaux) \nSeminar LPT\, 3/11/2026\, 14H\, 3R4\, salle de conférence \nSummary \nRecent experimental realizations of metal–organic centered-pyrochlore materials such as Mn(ta)$_2$\, have motivated detailed theoretical studies of this lattice. So far\, isotropic models have successfully reproduced experimental observations above 1 Kelvin [1\,2]\, but open questions remain about the low-temperature ordered phase and the precise nature of the proximate spin liquids. At such low energy scales\, weak spin–orbit coupling might play a role which motivates the study of the fully anisotropic exchange Hamiltonian on the centered-pyrochlore lattice\, following analogous work previously carried out for the conventional pyrochlore lattice [3]. \nOur study reveals that\, despite its close relation to the pyrochlore lattice\, the addition of a central site has profound consequences. First\, the two additional degrees of freedom per unit cell introduce extra fluctuation channels\, stabilizing a much broader variety of spin-liquid phases. Most of these phases exhibit multifold pinch points\, associated with fractonic physics. Second\, the distinct symmetry properties of the central sites allow them to behave differently from the pyrochlore sites. This leads to mixed phases in which one family of sites partially orders while the other realizes a classical spin liquid phase. It also enables a peculiar spin-liquid phase in which the structure factor of the pyrochlore sites displays pinch points\, whereas the contribution from the central sites alone does not. This means that the spin degrees of freedom of the spin liquid phase splits into a Coulomb phase with a zero-divergence\, and an exponentially decaying spin liquid with potential fragile topology. \nBeyond these general results\, this framework allows us to revisit the low-temperature phase realized in Mn(ta)$_2$ thanks to NMR and neutrons experiments\, shining a new light on the phase realized by this material.

- (Pratik Nandy / LPT / Seminar). -9/11/2026\, 14H
DESCRIPTION:Séminaire LPT \nPratik Nandy (VUB Bruxelles) \nSeminar LPT\, 9/11/2026\, 14H\, 3R4\, salle de conférence \nSummary \nThe dynamics of a quantum system is confined to a subspace of the state or operator space\, the Krylov space\, which is often smaller than the full Hilbert/operator space. Krylov space methods therefore provide a compact and computationally efficient description of quantum evolution\, which is particularly useful for nonequilibrium phenomena in many-body systems with large Hilbert spaces. In this talk\, I will discuss a notion of complexity defined in Krylov space and its use as a probe of operator growth\, quantum chaos\, information scrambling\, and state evolution in both closed and open quantum systems. Illustrative examples include quantum spin chains\, Sachdev–Ye–Kitaev models\, and random matrix theory. The talk is based on selected topics from the review article arXiv:2405.09628 (Physics Reports) and more recent developments.

- (Michael Sonner / LPT / Seminar). -10/11/2026\, 14H
DESCRIPTION:Séminaire LPT \nMichael Sonner (UC Berkeley) \nSeminar LPT\, 10/11/2026\, 14H\, 3R4\, salle de conférence \nSummary \nWe introduce a framework for describing the real-time dynamics of quantum impurity models out of equilibrium which is based on the influence matrix approach. By replacing the dynamical map of a large fermionic quantum environment with an effective semi-group influence matrix (SGIM) which acts on a reduced auxiliary space\, we overcome the limitations of previous proposals\, achieving high accuracy at long evolution times\, which we demonstrate by computing the spectral function of the single impurity Anderson model. Once the effective compressed baths are obtained\, they can then be used as building blocks\, allowing the study of more complex models such as the two impurity Anderson model. At a coupling strength between the two dots comparable to the Kondo scale this model is known to host a two channel Kondo like non-fermi liquid point. We study this critical point by considering dynamical observables such as the relaxation time after a quench and the work exerted on a ramp through the critical point exhibiting Kibble Zurek like physics. Finally I’ll discuss applications of this method to non-equilibrium dynamical mean field theory.

SUMMARY:Quantum Fluctuations in 1d Many-Body Transport: Hydrodynamics and Beyond. - (Stafano Scopa / LPT / Seminar). -17/11/2026\, 14H
DESCRIPTION:Séminaire LPT \nStafano Scopa (King’s College London) \nSeminar LPT\, 17/11/2026\, 14H\, 3R4\, salle de conférence \nSummary \nTransport in one-dimensional quantum many-body systems can display very different hydrodynamic regimes\, ranging from ballistic propagation in integrable systems to diffusion in stochastic systems. While hydrodynamics provides an effective description of the large-scale evolution of conserved quantities\, a natural next question concerns the fluctuations around this macroscopic dynamics\, and in particular those retaining quantum-coherent features surviving at large scales. \nI will discuss recent results in this direction. I will first focus on inhomogeneous one-dimensional Bose gases\, where Generalized Hydrodynamics describes the evolving background state\, while quantum fluctuations around it can be formulated in terms of an effective low-energy theory closely related to Luttinger-liquid and conformal-field-theory ideas. This framework gives access to quantities such as long-range correlations and entanglement throughout the nonequilibrium evolution. \nI will then briefly discuss the complementary diffusive setting of stochastic quantum many-body systems\, where macroscopic fluctuation theory provides the natural large-scale description and raises the question of how quantum-coherent fluctuations can be incorporated beyond its standard classical formulation.
