SUMMARY:An optomechanical view on the thermodynamics of chiral coupling (Cyriaque Genet / CEMES / Seminar). - 20/06/22\, 14H
DESCRIPTION:Cyriaque Genet from ISIS (Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires) – Strasbourg \nAbstract : \nThe left- vs. right-handed asymmetry of our living world -a “chirality” seen most often in mirror-image architectures of many biomolecules- is one of its most striking features\, yet one of the most difficult to comprehend. Immersing chiral molecules within chiral environments is an important route to asymmetry\, exploited in chemistry for synthesizing and separating chiral molecules according to their handedness. However\, the thermodynamics of such a route is not easy to describe. \nIt is possible explore this thermodynamics using a chiral nanoparticle diffusing within a chiral optical environment. The coupling between the chiral nanoparticle and the chiral light field yields new forms of optical forces that transform chiral degrees of freedom into genuine thermodynamics parameters. \nThis transformation provides a new and rich playground for further exploring chiral light-matter interactions. It offers new approaches to nanoscale chiral sensing and recognition and new opportunities in the context of separation of chiral objects at the nanoscale.

SUMMARY:Photofragmentation dynamics in small molecular systems (Maykel Marquez Mijares / LCAR / Seminar). - 24/06/22\, 11H
DESCRIPTION:Maykel Marquez Mijares (Instituto Superior de Tecnologías y Ciencias Aplicadas (InSTEC)\, Universidad de La Habana\, Cuba) \nSummary : The study of the predissociation dynamics of different complexes has been a topic of increasing interest in the last years. The continuous progress of the experimental techniques and the present computational performance have greatly allowed and contributed to this interest. The research efforts in this field have been addressed to an extensive variety of complexes\, with some interests in the industry\, health\, atmospheric and interstellar sciences. In particular\, the vibrational predissociation (VP) of systems composed of one or more atoms weakly bounds has received great attention. Using two different theoretical methodologies\, the quasi-classical trajectories (QCT) and trajectory surface hopping (TSH) methods\, we have studied the predissociation dynamics of some systems of interest such as (NO)2\, CH3 and Br2-Rg (Rg=Ne\,Ar). \n  \n\n
