DESCRIPTION:Ludovic Jaubert  (LOMA\, Bordeaux) \nSeminar LPT\, 17/10/2023\, 14H\, 3R1\, seminar room\, 3rd floor \nSummary :\nWhat we colloquially know about frustration\, is that it prevents magnetic order. But the interesting part is not so much the absence of something\, but rather what happens in its place.\nFrustration usually stems from one of only two elementary units of spins : either triangles or tetrahedra. In this seminar we will explore an alternative route for frustration via molecular design in the metal-azolate framework [Mn(ta)2]\, whose units are centred tetrahedra made of five spins [1]. Using a combination of experiments\, simulations and field theory\, we will show that this material is proximate to a spin liquid that possesses one of the largest phase-space manifold known in the literature\, even more degenerate than canonical models on the pyrochlore and kagome lattices. In addition\, it is described by an emergent Coulomb gauge field theory coupled to charges\, that can be seen as a « three-dimensional slab » of a four-dimensional structure [1\,2]. In that sense\, the description of this spin liquid is reminiscent of quasi-crystals\, that are better understood in D+1 dimensions. DESCRIPTION:Les séminaires du jeudi\n \nPauline Hélou-de La Grandière   doctorante à Cy-Paris Université et restauratrice du patrimoine indépendante\nMathieu Thoury chercheur sur la plate-forme Matériaux Anciens à IPANEMA\, CNRS/MCC \nRésumé :\nComme d’autres œuvres de la seconde École de Paris\, certaines peintures de Pierre Soulages (datées de 1959 et 1960) présentent des dégradations singulières qui consistent en clivages\, ramollissements des liants\, blanchiments ou décolorations de la surface et gouttes qui suintent des empâtements. Ces altérations sont difficiles à stabiliser et les restaurations restent donc problématiques : Ce constat a donné naissance au projet “NOIRŒS”\, pour Nouveaux Outils Interdisciplinaires pour la Restauration des œuvres de Soulages\, doctorat de l’Ecole Universitaire de Recherche Humanités\, Création et Patrimoine à l’Université Cergy Paris (2020-2023)\, présenté par Pauline Hélou-de La Grandière\, dirigé par Thierry Sarmant (CY Cergy Paris Université)\, et co-encadré par Mathieu Thoury (IPANEMA) et Lionel Simonot (Université de Poitiers). Le doctorat est concentré sur la période la plus emblématique pour ces dégradations\, entre 1959 et 1960 : il mène à la fois une étude historique sur la technique du peintre\, une étude comparative des états de conservation des œuvres et la restauration de quelques œuvres emblématiques\, mais il s’attache aussi à étudier les propriétés optiques des œuvres\, puisque leur modification altère avec une très forte incidence le rendu artistique désiré par le peintre. Cette démarche a demandé des développements interdisciplinaires\, pour un travail d’exploration de la matière\, dans son parcours historique\, ses caractéristiques physico-chimiques\, et les possibilités de stabilisation en conservation et restauration.
