The hyperfine anomaly: adventures at the intersection of atomic, nuclear, and particle physics. – ( Jacinda GINGES / LCPQ / Seminar). – 17/12/2024, 14H45

17 December 2024; 15h00 - 16h00

Séminaire LCPQ

Jacinda GINGES Queensland University, Brisbane, Australia

Salle de séminaire, 3R1, 3ème étage

Abstract
In this talk, I will discuss some of our recent adventures exploring the magnetic hyperfine anomaly — the effect of the finite distribution of the nuclear magnetic moment on the hyperfine structure. I will motivate our interest in this effect: as a problem to be removed to further enable precision searches for new physics in atoms and molecules; and as an object to be reckoned with and studied, towards improving the understanding of nuclear structure and models. This journey has taken us from many-electron, to hydrogen-like, and to muonic systems.
